On one such sojourn to a forgotten mill, I braved wind and rain, decrepit floor boards barely able to hold my weight, and impenetrable thick cobwebs in a dusty corner, only to find myself strangely drawn to something that had caught my eye, gleaming alone in a corner, where the sunlight was able to throw a dust-filled beam...as it turns out, the risk to life and limb was well worth it.... This is a 1951 Wilton "Toddler" vise with 2.5" jaws...a fantastic small vise for luthiers, jewelers, craftsmen, and machinists, and anyone who does fine work.COMES WITH ORIGINAL HANG TAG THAT IS EXTREMELY RARE!! The vise is in amazing condition, and might have been used only a handful of times. There are very few handling marks and only very minor wear to paint, and the jaws look nearly perfect. I would say there is over 90% of the original paint intact, and it is in great condition with brilliant original color. See all detail pics.The vise functions perfectly with smooth action, no play in the dynamic jaw (amazing tolerances!!), and is arrow-straight with no issues. The lock downs are gorgeous with straight handles. This vise was really hardly used! Clean anvil. Some sticker and paint loss around the jaws, and the rear sticker is much more intact. This is the most perfect all-original vintage toddler I have seen! Condition is "vintage excellent++". Clean date stamp of 5 51. Pretty amazing condition for a 75 year old vise. If you have a collection of original and "barely used" Wiltons, this is of course an exciting and historical find.
