READ FULL LISTING BELOW There was once a Jr High school........ Back in the late 80's when names like Tony Hawk, Lance Mountain, Mike McGill , Steve Cabalerro and Christian Hosoi were spoken of with new awe & reverence in the school hallways........ And back in the times when you wanted to know who had the latest Vision Gator, or who saw "The Search For Animal Chin", or the new skate movie "Gleaming The Cube". You would see one rocking a new G&S skateboards T shirt, or the colorful Ocean Pacific, Hobie or Cachit T's. Yes..... back in those days the worst that could happen was maybe getting punched in the face or getting called a "Pecker". Anyway, back then was a far cry from today's scholastic institutions where losers simply bring guns to school and waste whole lunchrooms. Yea sure, back then maybe in New York you would hear stories of guns being brought to school and shootings.....but at least it was gang or turf related. But even back then those shootings actually had more honor than the cowardess you see happening in the suburbs of today's American schools. And what I am saying is that the school shootings of today are thoroughly beyond & would even be something that the 80's gangs of New York would eschew and look at with indignation. They did it to survive. But today's actions lack any explanation at all. Though, to be honest, back then, there was only a small, but eclectic, minority that actually skated. And these guys were the visionaries, these were the realest of the real! But the slim skinny kids that you see littering the streets today take everything for granted. Skateboarding was not always as you see it today. And the new generation is a far cry from the days of the OG's when skateboarding was treated like a crime and skateboarders would be sought out specifically by police. It wasn't the fad it is today, and you had to be ALL IN back then because you were a pioneer...you were a REVOLUTIONARY! Because back in the day it was only the JOCKS that ruled the hallways. But the skaters served as Cheshire Cats.......perched safely on top of the lockers, smiling down to invisibility with the ability to vanish.....knowing that their day would come. Now the Jr High school spoken of here is none other than Roosevelt Jr High School. RJHS was A Pennsylvania Jr. high school that was heavily influenced, back then, by West Coast surf & skate culture........ but also by the Ocean City beaches of our own East Coast. Back then genuine nerds still roamed the hallways. But the classic "Nerd" (Nerdus Americanus) is now EXTINCT! .....Geeks, however, may still be thriving. And the same story can be told of many fine American scholastic institutions of the time, you know, back before the sht hit the fan. RJHS no longer stands today. It was demolished in the year of our Lord, 2008. But as this fine institution was wasted and undergoing demolition,....... along with what seems to be happening with much of America today, an alumnus, fueled by righteous indignation, was preparing to ride the hallways of this school before its utter destruction. This alumnus had already purchased the actual address letters that once were affixed to the schools exterior as a unaware school district was selling off memorabilia to anyone that wanted anything. Then this alumnus found vintage, but New Old Stock, Gullwing trucks. He also used vintage NOS Psycho bearings and Deadstock VISION BLURR 2WHEELS to crash up on the curbs with. And to top it off new unused old stock Vision skateboards stickers. He then affixed the school address letters to the deck, over top of white grip tape on a rock hard maple deck.......added some custom touches here and there.....and it was ready. So the demolition of the school was well underway, but the alumnus snuck in and skated the halls with this , now, RJHS "Cube Gleamer". It is called this not only because of the movie, but because RJHS was essentially cube shaped, and it also had a unique 3rd floor constructed of little glass cubes which made a cool transluscent floor. I'm certain it was the only school in the state, if not the entire country, with the unique architecture that it had. So the alumnus goes in and skates, but he also has a dinky 3 megapixel camera. This he uses to take decent photos to document the old school. And he also took a brief 15 second video of him skating a hall. This would be the last time that anyone would skate in this building. But even so, not many had the opportunity to skate in it the years before its demolition. So now this skateboard serves as a relic of Americana, from a time and place that we will never see again. It's not only a testimony to RJHS, but, really to that late 80's era and all the schools that were similar and the life and times that they had. The kids today may never understand, though they may recognize........and in this there is hope. I say this because this skateboard was part of a exhibit that the alumnus put on display at the local library back in 2011. And this board drew the attention of a few of the new generation that did show recognition and respect. But alas, as it is written, "A prophet is not without honor, except in his hometown". Thus the alumnus best felt this object could serve the skateboard historian, curator or collector moreso than the locale that it remains. This as it is being sold as rare art. BONUS SECTION: 1. . a flash drive containing many videos and many photographs that the alumnus took of the building before, during and after demolition 2. the Original and rare 1984 Movie on VHS called "Skatevisions". This is a VHS movie featuring the Band AGENT ORANGE with the Vision Team skaters in a really great cultural scene. This is the original issue VHS of this movie.....it is very rare and hard to find. This tape also features the band performing the song "This is the last goodbye", which I consider fitting for the skateboard up for sale and the era it represents. There is also footage of early skateboard competition and all kind of great stuff with a live 1980's California crowd. Real good cultural stuff. Somebody has this movie on You Tube so you can see it there as well. 3 In addition to this, the framed photograph, shown with the VHS tape is included as a bonus, this was part of the actual 2011 exhibit 4 Also you get one package containing a pair of New Old Stock GULLWING PRO KINGPIN III bolts! MONKEY AND HAT NOT INCLUDED! It is in excellent condition and a rare find. No warranty expressed or implied.
