JUDITH JACKSON's career as a motoring corespondent began when she became a presenter of the long- running BBC Television series Wheel- base, in which she did everything from driving through Ugandan tea planta- tions to road-testing a snow-plough in the AIps. Since then, motoring has taken her across Europe many times, and on assignments all over the world. In the course of her work she has learned to service and repair all manner of vehicles - experience which led to Roadworthy, the very popular BBC Television series on motor car maintenance, and to countless people asking her to start their cars for them. ln1975 she became motoring editor of the Sunday Times, a job which involves close contact with the world's motor industry and extensive practical road-testing. She is a member of the international Car of the Year Award panel and of the Design Council Motor Industry Award panel. GRAHAM ROBSON, author of the technical section Milestones in Motor- ing took his engineering degree at the University of Oxford and worked in the automobile industry from 1957 to 7977. During this time his experience with Jaguar, Standard-Triumph and Chrysler UK covered all aspects of motor car design and production. From 1965 to 1969 he was also on the editorial staff of Autocar magazine. From 1965 onwards he devoted an increasing amount of his time to writing and since 197l has worked full-time as a freelance author, editor and con- sultant.
