Description: Three (3) BROADSTRUCK LINCOLNS- We acquired a small hoard of these, mostly 1999-2001, all UNC as pictured-limited quantity available! RANDOM dates! We'll make every attempt to provide 3 different dates while quantities last.Broadstrikes are major error coins with significant value. A broad struck coin is one that somehow did not get struck correctly within the retaining collar that holds the blank planchet in place when itβs being struck. When the retaining collar fails to deploy, a broadstrike is born! Specifically, the retaining collar is what makes the edge of the coin when the blank is pressed between the obverse and reverse coin dies. Broadstrike coins have substantial abnormalities β so theyβre rather easy to identify: Theyβre thinner and wider than normally struck coins. They'll usually have an incomplete edge with a missing or misshapen rim. There will probably be extra space between the inscriptions near the rim of the coin (like the motto βIN GOD WE TRUSTβ as seen on the obverse of a Lincoln cent) and the edge of the coin.
