Denon DCP-70 :: with Remote & Digital Output

Description: as of today, we have about 500 'rare' and almost 20 'very rare' Discmans listed on eBay. Term definitely applies to Crown CD-10 (ebay.com/itm/226312433134). However, most of the 'rare' listings overlap and we see more than one copy available right now. Denon DCP-70 is not the most collectible Discman, it is just DCP-30 with IR remote and digital output. However, term very rare definitely applies to DCP-70: the most recent sighting was in February 2024, and before that only in May 2023 Denon DCP-70 Discman, with IR remote and coaxial Digital-Out option. Remote, antivibration plate and AC adapter included. Batteries Not included: if shipping gets rough they tend to break out of their confinement Discman was completely disassembled, laser mechanism cleaned and re-lubed, spindle motor substituted for the new one. Along with its twin brother DCP-30, DCP-70 inherited a very unfortunate design glitch: plastic CD platter slides up and down spindle motor shaft quite easily. During spindle motor exchange, CD platter was secured by Brampton golf-shaft epoxy. Still, the old 'audiophile trick' of YellowPages or leather-clad folio on top of CD player is NOT recommended here: plastic lid bends and CD platter may get pushed down the motor shaft again. Antivibration plate looks like much more elegant vibration control, it is included in this set DCP-70 is with a very upscale company: the only other Denon with digital output is Denon DCP-150. Unlike DCP-150, it does not need problematic BP2-type rechargeables but runs on four AA batteries instead. By using its digital output and running off the batteries (or upgrading to Linear+Regulated power supply) DCP-70 may become CD transport for the entry-level hi-end system.
