( see my other crepe myrtle varieties ) This is an upright crepe myrtle tree, able to grow up to 20' tall and 12 feet wide (30 feet tall in the Deep South) with brown, decorative dark bark which shows light brown exfoliation with age . It has 7-17" long inflorescences (panicles) of bright pink flowers from mid-summer to early fall. Leaves are a deep green in Summer, changing to a bronzy maroon in the Fall. Bloom Time: July to September Bloom Description: Pink Sun: Full sun Grows in zones: 6 - 10 Medicinal use of Crepe Myrtle: The stem bark is febrifuge, stimulant and styptic. The bark, flowers and leaves are considered to be hydrogogue and a drastic purgative. A paste of the flowers is applied externally to cuts and wounds. The root is astringent, detoxicant and diuretic.
