Description: Circa 1856 Set of 5 The History of England From Accession of James II by Thomas Babington Macaulay, Published by Wm. L. Allison Company , New York. No copyright, but other examples of this set with the same bindings all call this version 1856, so we are going with that. Each measures about 7-1/2" x 5" with around 500 pages each. All of the book's bindings are solid, with only volume 1 having any separation of the cover hinges (the rest are still covered and solid) . Volumes I and V both have bottom edges that were damp, causing discoloration tp the coverboards and staining to some or all of the bottom edges of their pages. The other three do not have this damage. The first few pages in volume 1 have come away from the spine but are included. All have page tanning/darkening, some edge chipping and other wear to the pages. Hardcovers also have edge and corner wear, light soiling. We try very hard to protect your purchase- books and other paper items get sent in plastic sleeves or bubble wrap surrounded by cardboard, other breakable items get packing peanuts, bubble wrap, or other protection to help avoid postal damage.
